ComPAS Freedom™ Features & Specifications

 

ComPAS Freedom™ is based on a classic two-tier client/server topology, connecting the client workstations to a Microsoft SQL Server, which can seamlessly share data with tens or even hundreds of users simultaneously - depending on the size of your organization. Low communications overhead means that ComPAS Freedom™ can even be used to test patients at satellite labs through a wide-area network (WAN) or using a virtual private network (VPN)

Spectacular Reports

Since the conception of ComPAS Freedom™, elegant and versatile reporting has been a priority. For interested users, a highly powerful report builder is available to allow for unlimited presentation and design. In most cases, report designs are completed by your Morgan engineer as a service provided through the ComPAS Freedom™ license. A brilliant library of report presentations come standard with ComPAS Freedom™, but your own 'dream' layout is both welcomed and easily accommodated.

ComPAS Screen ImagesTest Reports - presentations of test data really have no limit. These can include any combination of the best pre and post results with preference of numerical column order and any of the following:
  • Logo and header design
  • Manual entry information
  • Numerous individual test graphics
  • Summary of all efforts (data and graphics)
  • Overlay of graphics
  • Past test result history
  • Serial data graphing including ability to track %Predicted changes
  • Computer impression
  • Physician interpretation and captured digital signature

Administrative Reports - include statistical reports of laboratory activity, physician ordering, technician proficiency, patient listing and much more.

Quality Control Reports - show details of calibration history and instrument performance. QA reports can provide a monthly record of laboratory standards.

Query Reports - show results from searches of the database for all manner of administrative or research purposes.

Data Management is a Breeze

The heart of ComPAS Freedom™ is an integration of qualified data acquisition, local or remote interpretation, and interface with hospital information systems. The versatility of the design accommodates requirements of any size activity.

ComPAS Freedom™ Task Manager™

ComPAS Freedom™ Task Manager™ was co-developed with one of America's most prestigious teaching hospitals. When tests are completed in the pulmonary lab, results can be routed to any network-connected station for physician interpretation. In cases where multiple physicians will interpret results, ComPAS Freedom™ Task Manager™ automatically routes the patient results to the appropriate physician.

Internal "Task Notes" can be attached to patient results and sent to colleagues. Tests can be routed to pulmonary fellows for preliminary review and then on to faculty members for final interpretation. If reports need to be printed and sent to referring physicians, completed tests, along with the interpretation, can be sent to the departmental secretary for printing.

In smaller practices, test results can be sent from the pulmonary lab directly to the consulting physician. At his or her desk, the interpreting physician can log into ComPAS Freedom™ Task Manager™, review a variety of customizable report formats and engage a personal template of interpretation text. The computer impression is available as a quick reference while the interpretation is being considered.

Research Query of Data

For many Morgan Scientific customers, precise pulmonary function data has been collected through the years, with some customers going back as far as 25 years. This wealth of data now resides in the ComPAS Freedom™ SQL database. For all customers, information is steadily stored and accumulated, providing a valuable resource to be leveraged for research or reporting purposes. The Query Report feature allows users to search collected data using any of the values stored in ComPAS Freedom™. The data retrieved can be directly exported to Microsoft Excel® for graphing and statistical modeling.

Example: Find the following:
  • All males aged greater than or equal to 60
    • with a Diagnosis of COPD
      • and an FEV1 percent of predicted less than 70 and a DLCO percent of predicted less than 85

EMR Interface

RESULTS Interface:

  • Transmits physician-interpreted test to your Electronic Medical Records system (EMR) in real-time.
  • Full graphical reports can be transmitted – No need to scan your printed reports!
  • Tests can be corrected and resubmitted if errors are found.
  • Preliminary results available while test is still in progress.

ADT and HL7 ORDRS Interface:

  • Patient demographics are queued up and easily recalled – eliminating data entry errors in the lab.
  • Order details available to the technician at a glance – no need to keep referring back to an order slip.

Blood Gas Interface:

  • Get all of the patient's recent blood work with the click of a button.
  • Eliminate error-prone copying of dozens of complex values.

Billing Interface:

  • Sends list of procedure codes and other details of the test to billing department
  • Sends details for both Hospital and Professional billing.

The ComPAS Task Manager ties it all together:

  • Using the ComPAS Task Manager, physicians view detailed reports and detailed computerized analyses of each test type.
  • Physicians use the powerful commenting engine to say exactly what they mean – with minimum keystrokes.
  • Once the physician approves his interpretation of the test results, it is digitally signed and transmitted to your EMR via HL7.
  • Optionally, lab personnel can look over the test to ensure it meets all labeling and billing requirements before final submission.
  • With ComPAS Task Manager installed onto your Citrix servers – physicians can interpret from any hospital-approved location: Satellite-office, home-office, or backyard-office.
