Features, Design & Specifications
Below you will find detailed information about the Body Box 5000 Series. Information such as the Features of the Body Box, how it was Designed & Manufactured, and also the detailed Product Specifications.
Body Box Features
Calibration
Body Box calibration is very simple and fast; each step is guided by clear and helpful pictorial screens. During calibration sequences,
the instrument is skillfully checked for optimum
performance and ATS standards of measurement. Body Boxes are supplied with verifiable testing standards: a 3-Liter calibration
syringe (for flow and volume), a fluid pressure manometer (for mouth pressure), a 30ml sinusoidal
pump and separate pressurizing pump (for box pressure calibration and cabin seal verification).
Imbedded Help
ComPAS Freedom™ is equipped with a detailed, clear, illustrated
"Help" system that is a mine of information. From background on pulmonary
physiology, to detailed instructions on report building and system
maintenance; ComPAS Freedom™ HTML Help has all the answers! Chapters of the "Help" system can be printed for inclusion in departmental procedure manuals.
Coaching the Patient
Although the Body Box is simple to operate, some measure of patient coaching
is required. Tests of VTG can be done at quiet (normal) breathing, or with shallow panting. At the beginning of each maneuver for either VTG or Raw, a "coaching screen" allows the technician to simulate the mouth shutter
closure and the desired panting frequency. An electronic metronome can be engaged during both coaching and testing to assist the patient.
Routine Plethysmography
Testing The design of ComPAS Freedom™ allows for a wide variety of testing protocols. In each case, the tests are controlled by the simple use of a [Spacebar] or the mouse. Since the Body Box 5500 series cabins equilibrate so quickly, testing with the doors closed is fast and accurate. In less than 20 minutes, a full range of plethysmographic studies together with spirometry,
flow volume loops and DLCO can be run and verified by repeat efforts.
The most "user-friendly" Bronchial Provocation Testing capability ever!
With many PFT systems, Bronchial challenge testing
is a tedious and confusing
test. Using ComPAS Freedom™ however, it is made straightforward and quite delightful! Each step is organized and assisted
with intelligent prompts and timers. The testing is professionally
guided through each of the drug levels making use of ATS effort checking and a clear visual display of the dose response curve. Any form of challenge testing from Methacholine to Cold Air or Exercise protocols can be accommodated.
Spectacular Reporting Capability:
ComPAS Freedom™ reports go far beyond the limited designs of alternative software!
A comprehensive "Report Designer" is supplied with ComPAS Freedom™ together
with a wide selection of standard reports. Typical report options include:
- Single Page Screening Spirometry Reports
- Multi-page Full PFT Reports
- Multi-page Comprehensive Reports - PFT, Body Box and ABG results
- Bronchial Provocation Reports - with dose response curve
and interpretation
- Disability Reports - large scale volume-time graphing
- Summary Reports - showing all efforts and variables
- Quality control and Administrative Reports
There is no limit to the layout and design capability available. Reports can be batch printed on busy days. Elegant Networking: ComPAS Freedom™ SQL® can be the 'framework' for a complete pulmonary department network. Test results can be sent around the network for Physician review and signature before going on to the hospital main frame. Ask for further details of the ComPAS Freedom™ Departmental Network.
Design & Manufacturing
-
Superbly crafted instrument cabins featuring the finest
aluminum extrusion techniques
- Precision engineering of glass doors, seals and patient valving
- Hand crafted with the pride and skill that is the heritage of
Europe's finest engineering workshops
- All-round glass panel enclosure provides comfort and reassurance
to subjects normally wary of being in a closed space
- Highly skilled craftsmen using the finest materials manufacture
each plethysmograph to impeccable standards.
The Body Box 5500 series instruments
are manufactured in this state of the art
modern facility with clinical research,
precision engineering and computer
design departments.
The mouthpiece structure is cleverly designed for simple
adjustment and quick disassembly for sterilization. To ensure
patient safety and years of trouble-free operation, the shutter
mechanism is pneumatic.
Electronically, there is no other plethysmograph that can match
the quality of transducers and components employed, nor the
innovation of the design. The entire electrical assembly can be
easily accessed via a hinged panel. If need be, it can be
exchanged in less than five minutes by removing the panel from
the cabin wall.
